Last month, the driver of a tractor-trailer was killed when his truck “plunged” off a New York overpass, according to NBC New York. The deadly collision also resulted in the injury of a person in another vehicle.
Reporting indicates that the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle while on the Exit 9A ramp from I-287 to I-684. The tractor-trailer crashed through a guide rail before plummeting to the highway below.
Police Sergeant Killed in Accident
An on-duty police sergeant from Yonkers was killed in a head-on collision in Westchester County late last year. The sergeant was a 24-year veteran of the police department before his untimely death.
As reported by ABC 7, the officer was driving westbound on Tuckahoe Road when he was struck by a BMW driven by a teen. The teen had lost control of the vehicle before hitting the unmarked police car and a Westchester County Bee-Line Bus.
Greenburgh Crash Kills One
A crash in the Town of Greenburgh claimed the life of at least one person. According to the MidHudson News, the crash occurred at approximately 2:00 am on Sprain Brook Parkway near the Dobbs Ferry Road exit. It is unclear what caused the accident.
State Police Investigate Deadly Crash
The Harlem Valley News reports that state police are investigating a deadly I-95 car accident. A press release from the New York State Police indicates that a woman was killed after a tree fell on top of her Toyota Prius. As a result of the incident, the Prius struck a Ford F-250 traveling near the scene. The accident occurred on I-95 between the White Plains and Rye/Harrison
exits.
Two People Killed in Small Plane Crash
CBS News is reporting that two people were killed in a single-engine plane crash earlier this year. The crash occurred in Westchester County after the Beechcraft A36 departed from John F. Kennedy International Airport. The plane was headed for Richmond Heights, Ohio. As it neared White Plains, the pilot reportedly radioed the tower to notify them of engine problems. Shortly after the call the plane went down.
